Poland.
For our 10 day trip we decided to go to Prague and Vienna,
but on the way our buss stopped in Poland. Driving through Poland was beautiful
and the buildings had a unique style. Bailey and I made our way to the bathroom
at one of our stops and rand in to very nice Polish girls that helped us out.
They were excited that we were from America and asked a lot of questions.
Prague, Czech Republic.
When we got to Praha it was very
late and we were very tired after a 22 hour bus ride. Yet the next day we woke
up early and got started on our day! We went to the Charles Bridge early in
order to avoid crowds, and I am glad we did. It seemed that the place was
almost magical, it was so amazing. I wish I could take a picture that could
encompass the feeling of being on the bridge in Praha while the city is waking
up. On our way back to our Hostel for breakfast we saw Beethoven’s house in
Praha, aaand well I got pretty excited lol. We went back to the Hostel and
filled up on an awesome breakfast and made some friends from all over aaand
with beards lol. This hostel was awesome! Everything in the hostel was bought
at an antique shop except the beds and sheets. After a fun chess game, we went
to Dr. Fanz Kofka’s grave at the Jewish cemetery. Bailey and Ariel wanted to go
to his museum while Janese and I went to the music museum. Now this music
museum was pretty cool, it pretty much had every instrument you could think of
and more. I felt like I was a little kid in a play ground but I could not play
on it! I wanted to play the instruments yet I was not allowed lol. The next
best thing was to listen to them, so they had head phones that would play some
songs. One time I was listening and I started dancing my head around and
looking at all the instruments when one of the old guy workers made eye contact
and laughed a little at me a little lol, he was my friend J. After our little
music adventure we went to see a very old wax baby Jesus that nuns would change
its clothes, yeahhhhh idk what that is about lol. After, we headed over to St.
Nicolas’s church were we heard a beautiful choir’s song ring through the walls
and out the doors. Then we went to the palace where it was located on a high
hill and IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! Later we adventured through a huge park around the
castle and I was able to see the top of the whole city. Then we found a
communist memorial and had a quick visit to the ginger Rodgers and Fred Astaire
building. I just have to say that there are way too many attractive men in
Praha! Lol just saying. The next day we went to see the powder tower and the
awesome clock tower! This clock tower is one of my favorites because I had
learned about it in my astronomy classes. We go a pig leg in the square and
watched the top of the hour show that the astronomical clock does. After this,
we went to the Jewish museum where there were children’s drawing that the Nazis
would show the people to make others think that the children were in good hands
and were happy. Yet, after seeing the art I almost cried because in my opinion
the drawings served the opposite purpose. The art showed a window in to their
tortured young minds, I almost cried… I would just like to say ART IS
IMPORTANT! There I got it out lol. This leads me to my next event, which is the
national art museum. I LOVED seeing Jacob Schikaneder’s art! His paintings were
so beautiful and the way he captures light is inspiring. Most of his paintings
are about older woman’s ordinary lives in Russia. It seemed to me that most of
his paintings were focused on shadows and light. My favorite paintings of his
were the ones of the ocean, they were just grand. There were beautiful gardens
located outside of the museum so we went in to them and found out they were the
senate gardens. I felt like I was Alice in Wonderland, they were so beautiful.
Yet, one wall located in a far corner of the gardens was an ugly gray thing
with monster faces hidden in it, this wall is what they called the Grotto or
the dilating wall. I found out that this wall was made to intimidate an enemy.
For example, if there was meant to be a meeting with an enemy than they would
have it next to that wall so as to intimidate them. Next we all went to the
Loretta church were two very esteemed nuns were buried. I didn’t have enough
money to go in so I sat outside and drew a picture of it J. After we all got some
food in us we decided to go see the Charles bridge at sunset aaaand is was
amazing, I will just let you see the pictures I took from the view of the
bridge.
If there was one thing I learned
from Praha, it’s that art is great!
